Ian Urbina, author of The Outlaw Ocean: Journeys Across the Last Untamed Frontier,  joins the Crux to talk about his epic career as a journalist on the open seas. He challenges listeners to reimagine everything they thought they knew about the Ocean on a whole new “epistemological” level. During his voyage, Ian focused his time on the myriad of policies and laws that apply to being on the Ocean that commonly go unheard of. From arms dumping to human slavery, to pharmaceutical bioprospecting, Ian educates us on the uncharted practices of the Ocean.
